The 2023 Arrocal “Parcela Las Canteras” Blanco is made entirely from Albillo Mayor
vines, which are now twenty years of age. The hail from the high altitude, organically-farmed
vineyard of Lasa Canteras. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in five hundred liter French oak puncheons for a year prior to bottling, followed by nine more months of bottle aging prior to release. The wine comes in at a svelte 12.5 percent alcohol in 2023 and shows off a lovely bouquet of tart orange, green pear, chalky soil tones, raw almond, a touch of green olive, lemongrass and a whisper of oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and zesty, with a lovely core of fruit, fine soil undertow and grip, a good spine of acidity and a long, precise, well-balanced and complex finish. This is a superb wine! 2025-2035. John Gilman, Issue 117, May– June 2025 |
